EIGHT GREAT FOR BAYERN
BAYERN MUNICH last night clinched their eighth successive Bundesliga title with a 1-0 win at struggling Werder Bremen.
Robert Lewandowski’s 46th goal of the season was enough to claim the crown again after a rough performance.
The Bavarian outfit had a nervy final 11 minutes when full-back Alphonso Davies was sent off for a second booking but held out to move into an unassailable 10-point lead ahead of second-placed Borussia Dortmund.
Davies said: “We call him ‘Lewangoalski’ and he is top striker and top in the world. To score 31 in a season is unbelievable.”
Monchengladbach strengthened Champions League hopes with a 3-0 win against Wolfsburg.
Jonas Hoffman’s two first-half goals put them in command before Lars Stindl wrapped it up.
In Spain, Carlos Bacca’s gave Villarreal a 1-0 win over Mallorca, while 10-man Espanyol, who had Bernardo Espinosa sent off in the 16th minute, held out for a 0-0 draw at Getafe.
