BY TOM BRYANT COLEEN Rooney is “disappointed” Rebekah Vardy is suing her for libel as she had offered to meet her face to face.

Rebekah, 38, launched the lawsuit over Coleen’s claim she had leaked stories about her fellow Wag.

The wife of footie ace Jamie denied any wrongdoing and said the stress of their public dispute had caused severe anxiety attacks.

Coleen’s lawyer Paul Lunt of Brabners said: “It is disappointing that Mrs Vardy has chosen to issue court proceedings. Coleen feels that the time and money involved could be put to better use; her offer to meet face to face still stands.

“Mrs Vardy’s preference to issue court proceedings does at least mean that Coleen’s evidence can be made public when the time is right.”

Coleen, 34, said last year that she had spent five months trying to work out who was sharing information about her based on her personal social media posts.

The saga, dubbed Wagatha Christie, centred around Coleen planting three fake stories that were

TELLY TEARS Rebekah Vardy leaked to a newspaper including one saying she “narrowly avoided injury” in a car crash. Coleen, wife of ex-England captain Wayne, said at the time: “The car crash story was completely wrong. Someone on my private Instagram has seen the picture and is telling or selling stories to a certain newspaper.” A source close to Rebekah said they were aware of the story but that it had nothing to do with her. At the time, Rebekah said third parties had access to her Instagram account and an ITV forensic expert was working to discover who could have been behind the leaks. Court records say that Vardy – who took part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2017 – filed her claim with the High Court on June 12. No date has been set for a court hearing but the case will proceed to a trial unless a settlement is reached between the parties.
