Lotto chiefs appeal for Scot to come forward

- BY JEREMY ARMSTRONG

LOTTERY bosses have issued a desperate appeal for a Scot to come forward as time runs out on an unclaimed £58million EuroMillions winning ticket.

The winner from Ayrshire is among six lottery ticket holders who have failed to collect £61.5million in winnings.

The huge prizes have gone unclaimed with the time ticking down on the 180 day deadline.

The biggest by far is the £58million winner who has yet to claim the prize in Ayrshire.

But there are winners across the UK, in Leeds, Hull, Poole, Harrow and Brent, who risk losing out on a fortune by the end of the summer.

One £1million is yet to be claimed this month, while one lucky £1million winner has yet to come forward from March this year.

The £58million EuroMillions winning ticket matched all five main numbers and the two Lucky Star numbers in the draw on March 17.

The winning numbers for the draw were 05, 07, 08, 16 and 20, with the Lucky Stars 2 and 12.

The ticket holder still has until Sunday, September 13 to make their claim on the £57,869,670 prize but others have just days to collect their winnings.

Andy Carter, from the National Lottery, urged players in Scotland to check their tickets.

“We’re desperate to find this mystery ticket holder and unite them with this massive prize,” he said.

“It could really make a huge difference to somebody’s life.

“We’re urging everyone who might have bought a EuroMillions ticket in this area to check their old tickets or look for any missing tickets at home.”

One January winner, in the London borough of Harrow, has until Tuesday to bag £1million, otherwise all the money plus interest goes to the lottery’s good causes. Camelot confirmed all the prizes had either not been claimed, or had not yet been validated and paid.

The biggest lottery prize ever won in the UK was the £170.2million EuroMillions jackpot up for grabs on October 8 last year.

This big win eclipsed the previous UK record, which was set back in July 2011 when Colin and Chris Weir, of Largs, Ayrshire, won £161.6million.

David and Carol Martin from Hawick in the Borders split a £66million jackpot with another anonymous ticket holder in January 2016.

Gerry and Lisa Cannings from Peterborough were the sole winners of a £32.5million jackpot just a month later.

In June 1995, a single ticket scooped a £22.5million jackpot.

Business partners Mark Gardiner and Paul Maddison split the prize between them.
