Forget the title and win treble

Raheem’s order to City pals

- BY JEREMY CROSS

RAHEEM STERLING has ordered fallen champs Manchester City to make it a season to remember with a treble. City have been left licking their wounds after Liverpool romped to the Premier League title in stunning fashion. But former Red, Sterling reckons Pep Guardiola’s men can still make up for the disappointment of losing their title by adding both the Champions League and FA Cup to the Carabao Cup they landed in February. Sterling, who scored in City’s 4-0 drubbing of Liverpool at the Etihad on Thursday, said: “These games with no fans in the stadium, you have to dig deep to find something and fight for what we’re fighting for – the FA Cup and Champions League. “It’s about the mentality as we’ve not had a long time to get fitness up. So that’s what we’ve got to do in the FA Cup and the Champions League, because we’ve got big games coming up in those competitions.

“The main aim is to try and finish the season on a high.

“We’ve won the Carabao Cup already, we’ll try to win two more trophies and if we do that it will be a great season.”

Sterling admits it has been painful to see his former club dethrone City as champions, but has warned Jurgen Klopp’s side that they will be looking to win it back again next season.

The England star added: “We’ve been disappointed in ourselves. We know we could have done a lot more, but they have been a great example, they’ve been brilliant.

“It was difficult to see Liverpool take the title from us. Next season we’ll be raring to go and challenging again.”
