QUEEN’S GREATEST HIT

- BY GARRY OWEN

COLONY QUEEN (3.45) can reign once again for Steve Gollings on a competitive card at Ayr.

The consistent mare did me a favour when outbattling Cote d’Azur in a trappy handicap at Beverley last month.

The four-year-old is still nicely unexposed for her current handler so she can defy a 3lb hike under Rab Havlin.

TWILIGHT LUCY (12.40) is a good bet to open her account at the first time of asking for Mark Johnston in the novice event. JESSIE ALLAN (1.10) can bag her third course win for Uplawmoor handler Jim Goldie.

The mare lurks on an attractive mark after her decent comeback third to Macs Blessings over track and trip.

JOHN KIRKUP (1.40) should take command for Michael Dods in the feature sprint.

The five-year-old returned to form when chasing home the well-treated I Am A Dreamer in a strong Ripon handicap.

The speedster remains on a workable mark and can go one better on the soft conditions.

ALIX JAMES (2.45) looks good to call the tune for Iain Jardine in the Scotty Brand Handicap. The three-year-old was useful last term and should be primed after his third behind Oakenshield at Newcastle. SEE MY BABY JIVE (3.15) can land the QTS Handicap for Hawick handler Donald Whillans after her eye-catching third in an above-par Thirsk maiden recently.

Ben Haslam will be hoping RITCHIE STAR (4.15) can finally get his head in front in the lucky last. The gelding won’t mind returning to turf after his close second to Dragons Will Rise on the all-weather surface at Newcastle.

REDEMPTORIST (1.55) will look to maintain Olly Murphy’s flying start to the Jump season at Uttoxeter. The hurdler looks a nice recruit to the handicap ranks after his reasonable third to Postman at Newton Abbot.

THAT’S A GIVEN (3:00) can shade the handicap hurdle for Richard Johnson and Phillip Hobbs while DOING FINE (3.30) looks the shout for the Summer Cup Chase for shrewd trainer Neil Mullholland.

The 12-year-old ended last season by slamming Cogry in a red-hot Cheltenham handicap in January and remains nicely treated on his old form.
