A PENSIONER fears he witnessed crazed Glasgow knifeman Badreddin Abadlla Adam go on a manic rampage through the city centre 24 hours before he carried out his brutal hotel attack.

The 67-year-old man was stunned when he witnessed a man being assaulted outside a hotel in Argyle Street. The alleged assailant was then chased by two police officers.

The plucky pensioner decided to give chase on his bike as the man ran from police. He followed him through several streets but backed off in West George Street when the man made a throat-slitting gesture at him.

He said: “He assaulted a guy outside Thomson’s Hotel and then took off, pursued by two police officers.

“The man was completely out of it and hell-bent on harming people.

“This incident was witnessed by lots of people and I don’t understand why police haven’t followed up on my complaint about it.

“I followed this man on my bike, as I wanted to be able to tell the police what he was doing. He was indiscriminately attacking people and was very, very angry.

“I gave up once he turned his attention to me. I managed to take off. “I reported it to 101 and I’m still waiting for them to get in touch.

“I’ve been back and have spoken to people who witnessed it too. We have since seen photos of the man in the knife attack and we’re sure it’s the same person.

“If the police had caught him the day before they might have prevented the knife attack.”

The man, who we are not naming, said he feels distressed by the incident and has begged police to check CCTV footage to rule out any connection to Adam.

He said: “The man who was assaulting people was thin but muscular with a small goatee beard and drawn-in cheeks.”

Adam, 28, went on a violent rampage at the Park Inn hotel in West George Street on June 26.

The Sudanese-born asylum seeker, who is believed to have been suffering from mental health issues, was shot dead by armed police.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the

incident is ongoing.
