NO SYMPATHY FOR NEVILLE

PREMIER LEAGUE EVERTON v SOTON

-

CARLO ANCELOTTI has blasted Gary Neville for claiming Gylfi Sigurdsson bottled a tackle against Spurs on Monday.

Everton went on to lose 1-0 but Ancelotti was having none of Neville’s criticism of his player.

He said: “I didn’t see that he didn’t put a tackle in. Gylfi is a professional player, 100 per cent. He’s a great professional.

“Maybe he could do better but against Tottenham all the team could do better.”

Everton will face Southampton tonight with Ancelotti still clinging on to slim hopes they can qualify for the

Europa League, although they remain in the bottom half of the table.

Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl will aim to kill that dream by beating a second Champions League winner in a week.

Southampton sank Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City on Sunday and Hasenhuttl now has Ancelotti in his sights. He said: “Carlo’s a fantastic guy and it’s a joy for me to battle with him.

“We know it won’t be one per cent easier than on Sunday.”

TIM SHERWOOD reckons Jack Grealish has “a Manchester United swagger”.

Grealish is set to captain his hometown team Aston Villa against United tonight.

The £70millionrated midfielder is expected to quit Villa Park if they’re relegated with United his likely destination.

Former Villa boss Sherwood said: “Grealish has a special Man United swagger about him. He is what they need.”

Meanwhile Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has urged Old Trafford chiefs to give Paul Pogba a new deal. He said: “Paul has been looking better and better.”
