Moto’s 5G whizz

-

SUPERFAST 5G connections are the future for smartphones – but, until now, owning a device that is compatible with this speedy tech hasn’t exactly been cheap.

The majority of 5G-ready phones will set you back in excess of £700 but that’s all changed with the latest announcement from Motorola.

It already produces some of the best budget devices and now there’s one that comes packed with 5G.

When it arrives in stores later this week, the Moto G 5G Plus will cost just £289 and the budget price does not mean bargain-basement features. You’ll get a phone with a stunning 6.7in full HD+ screen that is even certified for HDR10, meaning

your content should look bold and bright.

Motorola is also following Sony with a 21:9 aspect ratio screen, which brings a cinema-style experience to the palm of your hand.

Under the bonnet is a Qualcommbuilt 765 processor and 6GB of RAM – plenty of power for your everyday digital needs.

And a giant 5000mAh battery should blast you through a day and beyond with quick charging also available when things run low.

It has a total of six cameras – four on the back and two on the front. That quad rear system offers wide-angle, DSLR-style depth of field and macro vision for close-ups.

If you love taking selfies, you’ll be well catered for as the Moto G 5G Plus has a dual lens which can shoot standard photos of your face along with unique ultra-wide selfies.

The phone has tight integration with Google’s services and will be available from July 8 in two variants, starting at £289 for the version with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage and £349 for the alternative with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage. It will be on sale at Argos, EE, 02, JLP and Vodafone.

WHAT IS 5G?

It’s the next generation of mobile network technology, able to offer download speeds of more than 300Mbps.

That’s about five times faster than the average UK broadband and means you can a beam a full HD movie to your phone in under two minutes.
