Raoul Moat rampage on big screen

BY JEREMY ARMSTRONG THE dramatic story of the hunt for killer Raoul Moat is to be turned into a film.

Details of the project emerged on the 10th anniversar­y of his rampage.

Moat, 37, was on the run for seven days before he took his own life in a standoff with police in Rothbury, Northumber­land, on July 10, 2010. He had murdered Chris Brown, 29, the boyfriend of his ex-partner, and shot and blinded PC David Rathband.

Millions watched the ITV documentar­y Manhunt: The Raoul Moat Story on ITV this week.

A source said of the film project: “The story clearly has all the elements needed for an exciting drama.

“The manhunt went on for so long and became the biggest of its kind in British criminal history.”
