Man missing after falling into loch

BY DAVID LOVE Polish nationals who had gone on the loch with two women to enjoy a day sailing from Dores beach, nine miles from Inverness.

The search went on until darkness defeated the emergency services and volunteers.

It resumed yesterday morning but as the year round temperatur­e of the country’s deepest loch is 5C, cramp can quickly set in and drag a person under. A police investigat­ion has begun and it is likely a fatal accident inquiry will be held.

A police spokeswoma­n said: “Around 6.50pm on Thursday, emergency services were made aware of two men having fallen from a boat into Loch Ness near Dores Bay. One man has been rescued and a search is currently ongoing for the other.”
