Farewell, Johnny

I FEEL so sad to hear of Johnny Beattie’s passing.

Apart from his deserved status as a legend of Scottish entertainment, he was such a lovely person off-stage.

I was his neighbour across the landing at his wee seafront retreat in Rothesay and he was always charming and down-toearth.

Every year without fail, he would send me a postcard from his holiday travels, and he always signed it off as “The Dinosaur”.

Rest in peace, my auld Jurassic neebur. You’ll be missed.
