Eilish’s home advantage for Weightman battle

EILISH McCOLGAN has signed up for a showdown with fellow world finalist Laura Weightman at the British Championships in Manchester.

The Dundonian will be on home turf at her Trafford Stadium base for the 5000 metres clash on September 4 which will be televised by the BBC.

But the two-day meeting is set to be one of the few domestic meetings this summer with UK Athletics receiving criticism for not drawing up a larger calendar of events.

“There has been a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes to make the organisation and delivery of this event possible,” UKA Events Director Cherry Alexander said.
