WE ARE WITH YOU SCOTT

SCOTT NISBET. Just mention the name to any Rangers fan around my age and it brings fond memories rushing back of that Champions League goal against Bruges on a soaking wet night at Ibrox. It’s funny how the mind plays tricks but when I think back it almost feels as if he was shooting from the halfway line at the dugout! I was just a young boy at the time but later in life I got to meet him a few times at various events and I was always struck by what a lovely guy he was. I can’t claim I really got to know him but I have been in his company enough times to realise he’s one of those people in life who are actually a pleasure just to be around. I mean this when I say that he’s the sort of person you couldn’t say a bad word about. So when I saw the news the other day that he’s been diagnosed with cancer I must admit to being absolutely shocked. I know he’s been living over in Lanzarote where he’s got his soccer schools so you don’t imagine for a minute something as awful as this was around the corner. Hopefully the doctors can help Scott to make a full recovery. You just needed to see him playing in a Rangers top to know the guy has never shirked a battle in his life. So I’d just like to take this chance to wish the big man all the very best and to let him know that we’re all behind him.
