BY MAGDALENE DALZIEL time and she died later in hospital.

Only 30 people were allowed to attend her funeral because of coronavirus restrictions.

The wider community in Dundee was invited to celebrate her life by joining in with a balloon release at her school or gathering outside the city’s Crematorium.

Her family asked those wishing to say goodbye not to wear black but to come in their “brightest colours, fanciest dress, glittered up with flower crowns or embracing the fairy and princess theme”.

Brooke, 26, said: “This is a celebration of her life, her farewell ball for the beautiful sweetheart she was, not just to me but to everyone she met.”

Two huge white horses led Freya on her final journey through her home city in a fairytale carriage.

Locals blew bubbles as the procession made its way along the road, stopping off at Clepington School, which Freya attended.

A fundraiser had been set up to ensure the youngster got the perfect goodbye, and more than £23,000 was raised.

In the wake of the death of her daughter, Brooke, who was treated at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for her injuries, paid an emotional tribute to her “guardian angel”.

She said: “We had to say goodbye to our best friend, our life, our world, our everything.

“Freya and I were in a freak accident that had us pulled down multiple waterfalls.

“I was lucky to survive but sadly our poor baby girl passed away. Freya was a cheeky little devil who we loved so much.

“She was our little guardian angel.”

Freya’s dad Robert Skene also posted a tribute to his daughter, saying: “Not something any parent should be posting about their baby but me and Brooke sadly lost our beautiful baby girl.

“The amount of support from everyone has been amazing and we can’t thank you enough.

“Until we meet again, Freya Skene. Love you always and forever my baby.”
