Now I feel like a new woman
THINGS are a little different from what you may remember at salons before the lockdown.
The industry has had to take extra measures to make sure it’s the safest environment possible.
This means sanitising your hands, having your temperature checked on arrival and wearing a facemask during your appointment.
We visited Reflections salon in Uddingston, Lanarkshire, to see exactly what clients can expect.
The salon is owned by three sisters – Victoria, Claire and Anne Bradley – who have been working hard to make sure everything is as safe as possible.
Among the many changes, they no longer offer magazines to browse, tea, coffee or any other refreshments and staff wear full PPE at all times – a mask, visor, gloves and an apron.
There are signs on the door with safety and social distancing instructions for clients, multiple sanitising stations and the staff work with a locked door policy and operate by appointment only.
Salon director Claire said: “It’s great to be back and have a bit of normality again.
“We’ve taken extra precautions and have had extra training via Zoom to make sure it’s the safest environment possible for all our clients and staff.
“There are a lot of changes to policies and procedures and we are looking forward to seeing all our clients once again.”
Record reporter Kirsten McStay said: “The team have done an incredible job of making the salon a safe environment for everyone.
“While they are being extra careful, it’s still an incredibly friendly and warm environment.
“Beautician Anne was kind enough to see to my eyebrows while I visited after five long months of not having them done, so I am beyond delighted – I feel like a new woman.
“Hats off to everyone at Reflections.”
