A YOUNG Rangers fan who died in a horror car crash has been described as “simply the best” by his heartbroken mum.

Lewis McEwan was involved in a two-car smash on the A84 between Buchany and Callander, near Stirling, on Wednesday.

Emergency services rushed to the scene but the 21-year-old was pronounced dead.

Tributes have poured in for Lewis, who lived in Menstrie, Clackmannanshire.

His mum Louise wrote on social media: “Can’t believe you are gone our baby boy. Our hearts are broken forever.

“Nobody will ever understand the love I had for you... my first born, my heart, my soul, my reason for living. Simply the best.”

The Wee County True Blues RSC also paid tribute, saying: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Lewis McEwan who sadly passed away.”

A pal said: “RIP Lewis McEwan, till we meet again bud.”

Another wrote: “Rest easy Lewis mate, top lad and the biggest Rangers fan.”

Lewis leaves behind his loving parents Louise and Paul and little brother Blair.

Police have appealed for witnesses following the crash, which happened at about 6.35pm.

A male driver and his female passenger were yesterday in a stable condition in hospital following the collision involving a Ford Fiesta and a Peugeot 3008.

Sergeant Ruth Aitchison of Stirling’s Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of the man who sadly lost his life in this tragic incident.

“I am asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or either vehicle prior to the crash, to contact us if you have not already done so.”
