IT’S A GOLDEN NUGGET

- BY GARRY OWEN

NUGGET (2:15) can maintain Richard Hannon’s winning streak on a competitive card at Newmarket.

The three-year-old improved again when just denied by the exciting Stanford in a red-hot Windsor handicap.

I doubt we’ve seen the best of this exciting type who can resume winning ways off an unchanged mark.

Roger Teal is starting to hit form so I’m backing GREY

GALLEON (12:35) in the sprint.

The six-year-old has thrived so he can shrug off a 7lb hike for slamming Princely at Bath.

AL RUFAA (1:10) can score for John Gosden in the trappy Volunteer Network Handicap.

The Kingman colt looked very useful when absolutely bolting up from Roman Melody at Kempton last time. There should be plenty more to come from this smart three-year-old.

SPARKLING OLLY (1:40) rates a typical Ralph Beckett improver in the fillies’ handicap.

The three-year-old remains open to plenty of progress after routing Queen Of Silca at Chepstow last week.

ICE SPRITE (3:20) can extend William Haggas’ excellent run in the Betford Handicap.

The Zoffany filly can do plenty of damage in this sphere after her eye-catching fourth in a warm Yarmouth novice.

SPECTRUM OF LIGHT (3:55) can give Charlie Appleby his customary winner at HQ. The gelding ran a stormer when just held by the talented Wise Glory over course and distance.

The three-year-old remains nicely unexposed over 1m 4f so he can go one better.

There are also worthwhile bets on offer at Ripon headed by MUSCIKA (6:25).

David O’Meara’s sprinter likes this track and should be primed after a cracking second to

Tukhoom at York. THE TRADER (7:25) can call the tune in the Bell-Ringer Handicap. Mark Johnston’s grey still lurks on an attractive mark after his cracking third to Deja in the Old Newton Cup at Haydock.

KENSINGTON ART (7:55) can build on his encouraging second to Clearance at Musselburgh for Richard Fahey.

Roger Varian likes a winner at the Yorkshire venue and can strike with UNION (8:25), who will take some stopping with a repeat of his fine Newmarket second to Zabeel Champion.
