BY ALAN MARSHALL DERRY CITY boss Declan Devine says Celtic have promised his team a future friendly after today’s planned Parkhead fixture failed to get the go-ahead.

The Northern Irish outfit had planned to fill the void after Dundalk pulled out over travel restrictions. But the FAI also refused to sanction a trip to Scotland for Derry.

Devine said: “It was a brilliant opportunity. Celtic were very impressed with how we went about our preparation for the game.

“We all got tested and did everything by the book then at the last minute the FAI wouldn’t sanction it as far as I know.

“It’s disappointing but Celtic have given us an assurance they will have us over at a time that suits in the coming months.” season – although Jermain Defoe’s late injury was cause for concern.

emailed: “For all those who thought that Rangers were a one-man team who relied on Alfredo Morelos for goals, the pre-season games proved otherwise.

“Goals from Aribo, Hagi and Kent – the solo effort from Aribo being a thing of beauty – showed there are game-winners throughout the team.

“If Rangers can carry their excellent pre-season form into the real stuff, the fans could be in for an exciting season.”

said: “Beginning to wonder if Jermain Defoe is getting past it now, although he’s a great sub to have.

“Rangers are being met with exorbitant fees when they enquire about a replacement.

“Why not offer Aberdeen £2.5million for Sam Cosgrove. After all, the Dons accepted a similar bid only a week or so ago.”

Celtic’s 4-0 thrashing at the hands of PSG had a few callers quite giddy during the week but

emailed: “I see Rab Picken is still obsessed with Celtic. Does he forget the last time PSG beat us 7-1, we went on to win the Treble? Roll on this season.”

said: “How can you win 10 in a row when you never won the nine? Ask Neymar about the No.10 – if you can catch him.” Finally, Kilmarnock fan

said: “I have just renewed my season ticket for Rugby Park but I fear the worst. A week to go until we have our first game against Hibs and we don’t have a first-choice goalkeeper in place.

“Disgraceful by the Killie hierarchy. I hope it doesn’t come back to haunt them in the coming weeks.”
