BIFFY STAR HAS A EURO VISION
Rocker reveals secret dream
BIFFY Clyro rock star Simon Neil has revealed a new ambition – to win the Eurovision Song Contest.
Neil, who founded the Scots band with twin brothers Ben and James Johnston, says he regularly watches the competition and is a huge fan.
And he even tried to enter the contest with a new band.
He said: “Eighteen years ago, a friend and I took some acid and watched Eurovision – and it was one of the greatest nights of my life.
“The universe opened up to me.
“I got it. I realised how tongue-in-cheek the whole thing is and now I waste a night each year watching Eurovision.”
The Ayrshire-born singer revealed that he even once tried to enter the annual musical extravaganza with his side project.
He said: “I have another band called Marmaduke Duke, and we did actually

He formed the side project with JP Reid, of fellow Ayrshire group Sucioperro, and the pair have released two albums – the Magnificent Duke and Duke Pandemonium, – and Neil would love to see them represent the UK.
The star also revealed his favourite author, House of Leaves writer Mark Z Danielewski, and his love of 90s pop – in the form of Swedish duo Roxette.
He added said that The Thick of It is his favourite TV Show.
Meanwhile, Biffy have announced a unique “oneoff ” livestream performance for the release of their forthcoming album, A Celebration of Ending.
The follow-up to 2016’s Ellipsis, it is due to be released later this month.
The special show will be streamed globally via YouTube, with tickets (priced at £16) on sale now.
