Man U ace De Gea? I’m much more like Captain Caveman!

Looks like there’s double ahead for County boss Stu ALL THE LATEST

-

STUART KETTLEWELL says he is more Captain Caveman than David de Gea after their doppelganger discovery.

The Manchester United keeper tweeted a snap of the Ross County boss being interviewed before Monday’s win over Motherwell.

A flushed face emoji served as the Spanish star’s only caption given their uncanny resemblance.

De Gea, with his 12.7 million followers, transformed Kettlewell into a Twitter sensation but the grounded gaffer admits social media isn’t his super strength.

Instead, the 36-year-old’s sole interest is in helping his Staggies grab the spotlight on the park.

Kettlewell said: “My daughter was the first one on the case.

“Anybody who knows me will tell you that it is completely lost on me because I am Captain Caveman when it comes to social media.

“I am a proper football guy and whatever happens in my career, it will always be based on what happens on a pitch.

“I am led to believe, through my family, there was mass hysteria before the game but I am pretty flummoxed by the whole thing.”

The Staggies boss is looking for his team to build on their opening 1-0 triumph when they travel to Hamilton tomorrow.

Kettlewell knows they will face a side that, like his own, have been written off in a lot of quarters as regulars for a relegation scrap.

And he reckons that turned its head when Accies boss Brian Rice was asked after Sunday’s 5-1 defeat to Celtic if the season would start this weekend.

Kettlewell said: “What a ridiculous question, ‘Does your season start next week?’. If you

BY SCOTT BURNS are dealing with professionals it doesn’t matter if it is Celtic at Parkhead or anywhere else – your season starts when it starts.

“You don’t miss that out and go on to the next game.

“We feel a similar sense of being written off at times, as they have been over the years.

“From that aspect it is two teams that a week or so ago have been tipped for relegation.

“We will both feel we’ve got a point to prove and will see a lot of people eating their words.

“We use all these things for motivation but that is nothing new for ourselves. Most people will look at this game and say it wouldn’t be one they would want to watch because they don’t see it being the greatest spectacle. I hope Hamilton do what they did on Sunday and we did on Monday. They had a real go at Celtic and the final scoreline probably didn’t reflect their play.”

Being written off is nothing new because Kettlewell insists his career – which saw him play for Clyde in between Queen’s Park and County – has been against the odds.

He said: “If you look back at my journey as a player and a coach, that is just par for the course. Stuart Kettlewell is not a big name in football and that is fine, I would rather that than all that garbage with David de Gea. I have had that since I kicked off with Queen’s Park more than 20 years ago.

“It is something I lap up and look to transmit to my players as well. I do think we are a club who do things right considering our resources and where we are situated on the map. We are a club that over a long time has punched above our weight. “But that doesn’t matter because we could have another 10 pundits who say we are garbage and will be relegated. “So be it. It doesn’t lose me any sleep – it is just my fourth kid who is on the way who gives me sleepless nights.”
