Lennon: Fletch not only option for Celts

- BY MICHAEL GANNON

NEIL LENNON has confirmed Celtic are locked in talks with Steven Fletcher – but warned he has several strike options.

Record Sport revealed discussions had opened up with the Scotland targetman and it looked close to being pushed over

remain over his future at Ibrox. Lille are poised for an £18million move but Gerrard urged the striker to remain focused on the job in hand at Ibrox.

The Ibrox boss said: “I can’t control what goes on outside. Everyone knows he’s had his head turned, there’s no denying that.

“But we just move forward. My focus is on the team and the players that want to be here and my focus is on St Mirren.

“If a bid comes that the board likes and are interested in and the player tells me face to face he wants to go then we will see what happens.”

Gerrard admitted Morelos, left, was off the pace against Bayer and the Germans eased to a

4-1 aggregate victory. He added: “I think Alfredo is professional enough to block the noise out.

“He hasn’t had the best of games tonight but we haven’t as a team either. There’s certainly no fingers of blame being pointed. We gave it our best shot and unfortunately we fell short. But we all have to improve. Alfredo needs to remain focused.”

Jermain Defoe has urged Morelos to impose a transfer blackout on himself by blanking social media and leaving the dealing to his agent.

The veteran said: “I wouldn’t even speak to my agent to be honest, just let them take care of whatever’s happening.

“Get your head down and play football.”
