RANGERS

ALLAN McGREGOR 6

Left with no chance at the goal as Diaby rifled high into the net. The keeper produced one good stop but was not hugely troubled despite Leverkusen’s dominance throughout the 90 minutes.

JAMES TAVERNIER 5

Couldn’t match Diaby for Leverkusen’s goal and was punished ruthlessly. Struggled to impose his usual forward influence on proceedings with Rangers unable to mount decent attacks.

CONNOR GOLDSON 7

Solid enough alongside Helander up against a menacing Leverkusen frontline. His distribution was found wanting on occasion but certainly wasn’t the worst offender on that front.

FILIP HELANDER 7

Promising return to the side for the big Swede, considering he hasn’t set foot on a pitch for the club since last December. Made a few crucial blocks in the first-half and looked solid throughout.

BORNA BARISIC 6

Like Tavernier on the opposite flank, he was unable to influence the game in forward areas. Lost Kai Havertz in first half and was fortunate not to pay for it.

RYAN JACK 6

Worked manfully in a midfield where Rangers were simply outclassed. Could perhaps have done more to stop Aranguiz’s pass for Diaby’s goal.

STEVEN DAVIS 5

Got the nod ahead of Glen Kamara for his vast experience but toiled a bit against a slick and sharp Leverkusen engine room. A big ask for him to dominate at this level.

JOE ARIBO 6

The Nigerian showed the odd flash of quality but, like many of his team-mates, was unable to exert much influence over the game. Will have better days.

RYAN KENT 6

Was purposeful in the opening period but then unable to make much headway at all. Taken off as the tie slipped away.

BRANDON BARKER 5

Handed a big chance at the expense of Ianis Hagi but the winger was no more than a peripheral figure throughout.

ALFREDO MORELOS 5

Took forever to bring the ball down for a very decent chance and it set the tone for him. Could have been much better.

SUBS

Ianis Hagi (6) Offered enough to suggest he should have started. Jordan Jones (4) Couple of decent contributions. Scott Arfield (4) Second sub appearance in a few days. Nathan Patterson (4) Valuable cameo for youngster. Greg Stewart (4) Wasted Rangers’ best chance.
