Well have to break the blank says Ricki

-

RICKI LAMIE insists Motherwell just need one goal to kick-start their season after a second defeat in five days.

The defender is relishing today’s Europa League draw as he prepares for a first ever venture into European competition.

But after drawing blanks in their opening two matches against Ross County and Dundee United, Lamie knows things need to improve fast.

He said: “We need to keep moving the ball and create more chances.

“It would be a worry if we weren’t creating chances, but we are and the goals will come. It was another frustrating one. If you look at the statistics, you would maybe think it was a different game but the only thing that matters is that they scored the only goal.”

Well face fellow early season strugglers Livingston on Wednesday.

Lamie said: “It’s not good enough in certain areas but there have also been loads of positives from the two games and once we click into place, we will kick on.

“The boys did amazingly well last season to qualify for Europe.

“It will be the first time for myself and the majority of the boys and it will be a great outing for the club.

“But we know Wednesday night is the most important game for us.”

Well skipper Declan Gallagher claimed the move to Fir Park could give Lamie a chance to stake his claim for Scotland, much like it did for him.

Lamie said: “The big man came in and did very well, but you only get that recognition if you are doing well as part of a team.

“It’s been a disappointing start for me, but the main thing is to get off the mark with points.”
