Celtic fans hit the roof over stupid Boli’s Spain day trip We’re all going on our Bolingolidays

- DAVID McCARTHY ANSWERS YOUR CALLS

WHAT’S the story, Bolingoli?

The Hotline was anything but an Oasis of calm yesterday morning as punters looked back in anger at the Celtic left-back’s masterplan to go on a day trip to Spain without telling anyone.

Boli Bolingoli’s eccentric and he did things Neil Lennon never expected – and some might say he should never wear the jersey again.

In fact, everybody was saying that and a whole lot more. Brian Mitchell, Glasgow, said: “This man with his life of luxury has put not just the top leagues in Scotland in jeopardy, posing in his fancy suitcase and gear other footballers in the country would need a loan to pay for, did he think for a second the lower league players could find their clubs going to the wall? No, he wouldn’t even have heard of them. Shame on you.” Paul McCormack, Coatbridge, said: “Would it be too cynical to say Bolingoli has worked his ticket away from Celtic and the subs’ bench with his ‘day-trip’?” Paul Conway, Whitburn, emailed: “Regarding Aberdeen and Celtic flouting Covid-19 rules, the SPFL need to grow a pair and give the points from every game that needed to be cancelled due to their ignorance and lack of respect for Scottish football and fans, to the teams that trained for these games.

“It would also stop a backlog of games later in the season.”

Stuart McLeod emailed: “The decision to play this season’s Betfred Cup and last season’s Scottish Cup looks really foolish after the latest rounds of postponements.

“The league must ensure the revised games are behind closed doors when eventually played so no team can take advantage.

“Hibs and Hearts would have a case for their semi-final of the Scottish Cup to be the final.” Frank McFerran, Carrickfergus, said: “What happens if Rangers are 11 points ahead in the league because of the cancellations and the league is then called off because of a second wave? Do they get the league ‘given’ to them by the powers that be?” Scott Gowers, Edinburgh, said: “Sporting integrity and the compliance officer’s integrity have to come into question with a lack of action against Celtic and Bolingoli.

“The integrity issue has been evident over the past couple of years with the difference in treatment to Alfredo Morelos than of Scott Brown and Leigh Griffiths. Last weekend we had a blatant elbow by Odsonne Edouard and nothing.

“Celtic and Bolingoli should be hammered. Putting lives at risk is surely more dangerous than Morelos’s petulant outbursts which he’s been punished for.” Jimmy Strangers, Tranent, had a pop at reader Lance Little. He said: “Little, your hatred of Rangers is obvious, the nine players you speak of were twice Covid tested in France and tested before the game in question.

“Results were late coming back, not Rangers fault. If a Rangers player had done what a Celtic player has done you’d want them thrown out the league. To Hotline journalists I’ll guarantee this comment probably won’t be printed as you are biased.”

Aye, okay Jimmy. Then this is a figment of your imagination.

Gordon Ashley, Ayr, said: “Rangers fans talking about points deductions should be careful what they wish for.

“If the decision is taken to take points off offending clubs theirs will be at the top of the list for their blatant breaking of testing rules putting Dundee United players at risk, an offence committed by the actual club and not a player.”

On to something slightly different. Lewis Doyle, Limerick, said: “After the Kilmarnock game, describing the horrific display from Christopher Jullien Lennon said, ‘the big man’s just warming up.’ I’m worried the Frenchman is going to get colder as the games have been postponed.”

Finally, Robert Arthur,

Bathgate, emailed: “Were Kris Boyd and James McFadden actually watching Dundee United-Hibs? After a poor first half the only taking point must have been the assault on Paul McGinn – but it didn’t even get a mention. It’s a straight red card. Then Micky Mellon after the match is not happy his player got a yellow card. I am missing something.”

After all that, there is only one thing for it. Pass me the cigarettes and alcohol, please.
