DYKES MOVE GIFTSQUEENS CASH BONUS
LYNDON DYKES’ £2million move to QPR from Livingston is poised to land Queen of the South a record-breaking windfall.
The Doonhamers are expecting a six-figure sell-on sum after the striker secured his switch to the London club on a four-year deal yesterday.
Dykes joined the Lions from the Doonhamers in January 2019 before being immediately being loaned backed to Queens.
The Palmerston side’s current transfer record stands at £250,000 from when striker Andy Thomson left Queens for Southend in 1994.
A club spokesperson said: “We welcome the news that Lyndon Dykes has completed a move to QPR and can confirm that Queens will now be due a six-figure fee as part of the deal.
“We always recognised the potential Lyndon had and fully expected him to gain a move at some point, hence the reason we included a sell-on clause when we sold him to Livingston.
“Obviously the money comes at a much-needed time for the club. Although he is being transferred from Livingston, the deal has the potential of being a new club record for us.
“It currently stands at quarter of a million pounds, set when Andy Thomson moved from Palmerston to Southend United in 1994.
“Lyndon was a big player for us when he was in Dumfries.
“We are proud he started his career as a youth development player at Palmerston and he has gone on to show his worth in the Premiership in the last year.”
After completing his switch to Loftus Road yesterday, Dykes said: “Being at Livingston was great. But to be at a club like this, I just want to put my head down now and to kick on.
“I’m a player who works hard for the team. I like to work hard for my teammates, I want them to know that I’m putting it in for them.
“I’m always going to give 100 per cent.
“I’m always willing to learn and hopefully I can score a few goals as well.”
