Stahl: Don’t write us off – Olsen will give his all for NSI

-

NSI RUNAVIK boss Glenn Stahl reckons star striker Klaemint Olsen would “die” for his club and warned Aberdeen to underestimate Faroe Islands football at their peril.

Olsen, 30, has scored almost 200 times during 13 years with Runavik and won the domestic Golden Boot five times.

He notched an ultimately fruitless hat-trick in Toftir two years ago in the Faroese side’s 12-5 aggregate defeat by

Hibs – and repeated that feat last week with a treble in their 5-1 demolition of Barry Town.

Olsen’s been capped 28 times for the Faroes, with his only goal in that time in a 4-1 defeat from Spain last July.

Stahl – whose only outing on Scottish soil was for Sweden’s under-18s in 1989 when they beat their hosts 4-0 – said: “Klaemint is simply Mr NSI.

“He was born in Runavik and has stayed at this club for his whole career, despite serious offers from abroad. I have no doubt he would have been good enough to play elsewhere.

“He is an amazing player and even better person – and would probably be ready to die for his club. There’s no doubt Klaemint will be an important player for us against Aberdeen.

“He’s a good example of how some players are underestimated because they play in the Faroe Islands. Some people will be surprised by the quality.”

Team-mate Jann Benjaminsen, who racked up three assists against Barry Town, added: “Klaemint is a machine in the box. If we can provide him the opportunities then he will do the rest.

“We are very lucky to have him and if anyone watches highlights of his play, or comes to his matches, then they will see why.” lack of action. I’m backing Well but can’t see a goalfest. The Steelmen and under 3.5 goals could be the best at evens with McBookie.

Goals have been in short supply so Stephen Robinson could turn to Chris Long, with 11 goals last term, who is 5-6 to net and 7-2 to break the deadlock.

Aberdeen have been in decent form and shouldn’t have too many problems.

Runavik dumped Barry Town 5-1 but I’m backing the Dons -1.5 Asian at 1-2 with McBookie. Scott Wright netted on Sunday and is 11-8 with McBookie to strike.

Europa Double Well & under 3.5 goals Aberdeen -1.5 Asian

(3-1, McBookie)
