The Scots-born husband of Tory minister who says Covid pandemic is ‘an outbreak of mental illness’
THE SCOTS husband of a Tory Government minister has been exposed as a coronavirus conspiracy theorist and anti-vaxxer who has joined protests against lockdown measures.
Sandy McFadzean, the husband of Conservative minister Chloe Smith, has posted anti-vaccine messages on Twitter and described Covid-19 as “most likely an outbreak of mental illness”.
The former Parachute Regiment officer has embarrassed Boris Johnson’s Minister with his online rants.
McFadzean, 42, a city banker, denied the existence of Covid-19, writing on Twitter: “Government need to be clear. Either there is a killer virus on the loose or there isn’t. (Spoiler alert: There isn’t)”.
He also retweeted posts describing the Government as “globalist puppets” and “tyrants”.
The dad of two is also said to have attended last week’s march in London organised by
David Ike and Piers Corbyn, the brother of former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
McFadzean, who grew up in Wales, joined 10,000 other antivaxxers protesting against lockdown measures and calling for Health Secretary Matt Hancock to be jailed.
McFadzean retweeted a poster for the march which called for no track and trace, an end to social distancing and no facemasks.
His account was deleted after Smith, 38, was contacted by her local newspaper.
Smith, MP for Norwich North, said: “My husband is a private citizen. Everyone is entitled to their views and to debate. I take a different view to his.”
Smith, who is Minister for Constitution and Devolution, supports the Government’s policies and used Twitter to highlight the “Stay Alert, Save Lives” message during lockdown.
