gone away, though – even if it does bug the world-class left-backs.

Robertson smiled when asked but any mention of his pal these days does cue a roll of the eyes.

He said: “Not bad, that’s 10 minutes before anyone mentioned KT and me!

“We’re delighted to have him back. He’s been out a long time and it’s great he’s back because he’s such an important player for Scotland. We’ve both spoken about it before, we are both fed up hearing the comparisons between us. We get on great, both on and off the pitch.

“There is no real comparison. Look, we play in the same position but we play at different clubs and previous managers have found a way to get us both in the team. It’s up to this manager whether he decides to do that or not.

“It gets a bit wearing on both of us to be compared all the time.

“We’re fortunate to both be playing at big clubs and that’s the way we look at it. We can all play different positions and it’s up to the manager to decide on that. Then it’s up to us to go and perform on the pitch.”

Tierney playing in a central role for Arsenal may finally solve the riddle while Lyndon Dykes could be the answer up front. The QPR new boy nailed his colours to the mast for Scotland and with Oli McBurnie absent, Steven Naismith not up to speed and Leigh Griffiths still out, he’s likely to be pitched straight in.

Robertson said: “Lyndon has settled in well and been brilliant around the place – although I gave him a bit of a pasting at table tennis last night!

“He’s settled in really quickly and he’s a cracking big guy. On the pitch he’s looked very sharp, just like everyone else.

“The way we’ve all trained has been very good and we’ll need to wait and see what happens – it’s down to the manager to pick the team.

“He’s givenen his all and he’s made his commitment to Scotland,d, which is the most importantrtant thing. He’s seemed to really enjoy it.”

Robertsonon appearing in a wee box on an iPad when talking was a reminder of these strangenge times. Hampden should b e cho cckaka but insteadad Robertson may get flashbacks to his Queen’s Park days when looking to the stands.

He said: “It’s rubbish, there’s no getting around that.

“We’re in the entertainment business, we want to entertain people and have fans willing us on, celebrating goals and everything that goes along with it.

“There are bigger matters in the world right now but if fans can get into grounds safely, then we should be pushing to do that because it doesn’t compare.

“In certain games when you have the fans, they can set and create the atmosphere for you.

“It’s been like that in the Premier League and for Scotland. But we have to create our own atmosphere. That’s up to me and the experienced lads to make sure that everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet and we’re fully focused – because we’re going to get no help once we’re out on

the pitch.”
