WHAT YOU WAITING FOR LEW?

Scots actress wins award but she has her eyes on another prize .. a date with Lewis Capaldi

- By SOPHIE LAW

WHAT’S a girl got to do to get a date with pop star Lewis Capaldi?

You’d think being talented, clever and beautiful would be enough for young Scots actress Anna Russell-Martin. Not quite, it would seem. But surely now that she’s scooped a major award at a prestigious film festival she will be able to win over the famous singer…

All Lewis, 23, needs to do is check his Twitter notifications and he’ll see a message from Anna, 21, who wrote: “I won an award at Venice Film Festival. @ Lewis-Capaldi will you take me on a date now? X”

By last night, the Someone You Loved hitmaker hadn’t responded yet, but one fan commented: “Honestly, you don’t realise how much this is meant to be, pal.”

Anna, f r om Coatbridge, jetted out to Italy for the 10- day festival , where her first movie won the Venice short film nomination for the European Film Awards.

Tweeting a photo of her on the red carpet, the former St Andrew’s High pupil, who started out in musical theatre, announced the exciting news and made the cheeky request to her fellow Scot Lewis. The Shift is the second movie written and directed by Edinburgh film-maker Laura Carreira, a 2019 Bafta Scotland nominee with her previous production, Red Hill. Set in a Glasgow supermarket, the nine-minute film tells the story of an unnamed woman, played by Anna, on a zero-hours contract. So what are you waiting for Lewis? Get on to Twitter and get back to Anna. Sh e might well turn out to be Someone You Loved.
