Window smashed at home after social media threats

A CALLOUS mum who left her dying 13-year-old daughter to go to the pub is being terrorised in her home by vigilantes.

Sharon Goldie admitted the vile neglect of tragic schoolgirl Robyn in court last month but will now wait several weeks to learn her punishment after her sentencing was delayed.

Sources told the Record the 45-year-old’s home in Wishaw, Lanarkshir­e, has been targeted with her window smashed this week and online threats to “burn her out”.

The mum is said to be cowering at the flat where Robyn died in July 2018.

Goldie had originally been charged with Robyn’s culpable homicide but prosecutor­s accepted a not guilty plea when she admitted wilfully ill-treating and neglecting Robyn, who died after suffering a burst stomach ulcer.

A source said: “People have been standing in the street outside the house. You could sense that something was very wrong.

“There were some threats on social media after she pleaded guilty. Someone shared an article from the tabloids and someone replied, saying, ‘Let’s burn her out’. If she comes back to the house after the sentence, I don’t know what will happen.”

It’s understood neighbours are fearful they could be caught up in any vigilante attacks on the property and police are carrying out extra patrols in the street following this week’s incident. ent.

Judge Lord Beckett said it was an “important case” and a matter of “public interest” so steps should be taken to “accelerate” its completion.

When we tried to contact Goldie for comment, no one answered the door.

Glass lay shattered in front of the broken window, which had been sealed with plastic.

A police spokesman said: “Officers received a report around 11.13pm on Monday relating to a window being broken at an address in Wishaw.

“Inquiries are under way.”
