NO ONE TRICK PONY

- BY GARRY OWEN

CRUYFF TURN (12.30) can score for Tim Easterby in the Jordan Electrics Apprentice Handicap at Ayr.

The three-year-old looked useful when comfortably defeating Zap on his handicap debut at Redcar last time.

The unexposed gelding was staying on strongly over seven furlongs so stands ready to follow up over a mile.

WHATZUPWITHME (1.0) is the pick of Mark Johnston’s duo in the novices’ event. The colt is open to progress after his fair fourth to Ready To Venture on debut at Yarmouth.

LUCKY LUCKY MAN (1.30) should continue his revival in the Scotty Brand Handicap.

Richard Fahey’s grey bounced back to his best with a smooth defeat of Quanah over six furlongs at Hamilton last time.

The sprinter remains well treated on his peak form so is set to strike again under an inform Paul Hanagan. EQUIDAE (2.05) ought to complete a hat-trick for shrewd Dumfries handler Iain Jardine.

Impressive here last month, the gelding bettered that effort when bolting up from Star Of St James at Southwell.

The five-year-old is in the form of his life so can shrug off another well-earned 5lb hike.

Jardine stands to add the Microtech Group Handicap to his tally with CLEARANCE (4.25). The gelding is a useful stayer at best so looks poised to atone for his poor run over 1m 4f at Catterick last month.

Ruth Carr’s ATHMAD (2.40) is well worth punting in the Branding Hub Handicap.

The four-year-old still lurks on an attractive mark after going down narrowly to Casilli in a hot event at Beverley.

HARRISON POINT (3.15) can shade the QTS Handicap for Archie Watson.

The three- year- old ran another stormer when a close third to Ascension in a similar event over track and trip. The gelding was slightly unlucky so should bag his fourth win of the year with a clearer passage.

BARYSHNIKOV (3.50) is set to put his best foot forward in the Shadwell Stud Handicap.

David Barron’s gelding built on some excellent efforts when slamming Montanari at Chester just over a fortnight ago. The four-year-old scored with plenty in hand so can go in again for his skilled trainer.
