Skipper has boss Lenny chipper with Hibs display

-

NEIL LENNON believes Celtic skipper Scott Brown has silenced the Parkhead snipers who insisted he’s past his best.

The 35-year-old completed the majority of the Hoops’ 3-0 victory over Hibs on Sunday before being brought off with eight minutes to go.

Lennon insisted that team showing was a highlight from his two spells as manager in Glasgow’s east end.

And while the boss already knew Brown still has the energy to lead from the Celtic engine room, he reckons his captain proved it himself against his former club.

Speaking to Celtic TV, Lennon said: “He was man of the match. He was brilliant.

“I know people have been questioning him. Sometimes he takes a little time to get going, he needs the games. But he was imperious against Hibs.

“His legs haven’t gone. We have got all the data and we see him every day.”

As well as being delighted with his longserving captain, Lennon praised the newcomer to his midfield, David Turnbull.

After a couple of cameo outings since his £3million move from Motherwell, Turnbull was handed the whole of the second half.

The 21-year-old did not disappoint, playing a key role in Celtic’s third goal.

Lennon said: “He can be delighted with his contribution. He is a very good young player.”

Jozo no go over injury concerns

JOZO SIMUNOVIC’S move to Rijeka has collapsed after the Croatian side expressed doubts about his previous knee injuries.

The former Celtic defender was expected to complete a move to his homeland.

Rijeka are the second club this summer to pull out of signing the 26-year-old at the last minute after Turkish side Trabzonspor ended their plans to sign him.
