SHUT YOUR TRAP FRANK

Jose lets rip as Blues master beats pupil

-

JOSE MOURINHO hadd a blistering bust-up with his former trusted lieutenant Frank Lampard as Spurs sent Chelsea spinning out of the Carabao Cup.

Tottenham boss Mourinho taunted his former player with a cheeky dig as tempers frayed in a feisty fourth-round tie settled by Mason Mount’s miss in the penalty shoot-out.

Spurs looked to be heading out until Erik Lamela’s 83rdminute finish cancelled out Timo Werner’s first Blues goal.

Before that Mourinho was left fuming as Spurs briefly played with 10 men after Eric Dier’s toilet stop saw the gaffer scamper off to the changing room in search of him.

Dier, who was playing his second game in three days, said: “He wasn’t happy but there was nothing I could do about it really – nature was

calling.” And yet a touchline row dominated the derby as old friendship turned into fierce rivalry.

Blues boss Lampard was up off his seat throughout the game and that seemed to wind up Mourinho after his side went behind 19 minutes in when Werner steered home a brilliant finish from Cesar Azpilicueta’s low cross.

Mourinho said: “F*****g hell Frank, when you’re losing 3- 0 you’re not standing up here.”

The Portuguese then made gestures with his hands that Lampard was talking too much. That was a dig at the 42-year-old after his side trailed at West Brom before fighting back to draw 3-3.

There was no love lost between a duo incredibly close when Lampard the player spearheaded Mourinho’s success at Stamford Bridge.

Dier disappeared down the tunnel in the second half to go to the loo in a bizarre scene from a bonkers game.

Asked about the incident, Mourinho – whose side now face a Europa League play-off clash against Maccabi Haifa tomorrow – said: “He had to go! No other chance, he had to go. Maybe it is a normal thing when you are completely dehydrated, when you have nothing in your muscles, which was the case.

“I knew he had to go but I was just trying to put some pressure on him to have him back for the remaining time.

“He was a great example for everybody, playing these two matches. If the football authorities don’t care about players, I care – so of course Eric cannot play on Thursday.”

The shoot-out saw nine perfectly taken penalties before Mount slashed wide.

Lampard said: “Timo had some cramp towards the end of the game. He probably would have taken one so we had to adjust around that.”
