United told to cough up £108m for star Sancho

- BY DAVID McDONNELL

MANCHESTER UNITED have been told nothing less than £108million will see them land England star Jadon Sancho before deadline day.

United remain hopeful a deal can be agreed with Borussia Dortmund for Sancho before the transfer window shuts next Tuesday – but are adamant they will not pay over the odds for him.

Do r t mund hav e reiterated they will not budge from their valuation of the forward and will not

entertain the prospect of selling him unless United meet the asking price.

Sancho failed to travel with Dortmund to Munich yesterday ahead of the German Super Cup but the club insisted that was due to him having an illness.

Discussions are ongoing between United and the German club, through an intermediary, with boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer desperate to sign the 20-year-old.

United had hoped Dortmund would accept an offer of £90m for Sancho, the closer it got to deadline day but the Bundesliga club are standing firm. And they are adamant they will only sell on their terms.

While United have made significant progress with regard to wages and agents’ fees in their pursuit of Sancho, the obstacle they have so far been unable to clear has been the fee.

United are still pushing ahead with a move for Porto left-back Alex Telles, while Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembe l e remains an option but only on a loan deal.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils last night agreed a deal in principle to let midfielder Andreas Pereira join Lazio on loan.

The 24-year-old has been with United since 2014.

However, in that time he had loan spells in La Liga with Granada and Valencia.

He has rarely looked like becoming a first choice at Old Trafford until last season, when he made 40 appearances.

But he started only once and made six substitute appearances after Bruno Fernandes made his debut.
