FORREST THUMP

- TEAMS ANALYSIS MAN OF THE MATCH

ALAN FORREST snatched Livingston’s first away win of the season in a dramatic finale as shot-shy Dundee United wasted another chance to go top five.

The Livi livewire struck in the 90th minute to hand them a deserved victory – their first on grass since August 2019 when they won 2-1 on the road at Ross County.

The win sees the Lions jump above United into sixth.

But Micky Mellon will be wondering why his powderpuff attack – whose goal was their only shot in the match – flopped so spectacularly.

Lawrence Shankland and Logan Chalmers were hoping to celebrate their national call-ups with a victory.

But both failed to impress in front of the watching Burnley scouts as United dropped to eighth.

Gary Holt’s side dominated for large spells. Yet they had to fight back after Nicky Clark swept United into an early lead

Robinson’s follow-up. Mehmet pulled off another crucial block to deny Robinson as the Lions piled on pressure. Holt must have wondered how his side were behind at the break.

They came close again within two minutes of the restart when Devlin’s fizzing low cross was deflected just wide by a Connolly lunge.

The Lions finally drew level six minutes later after a flowing move down the left. Serrano fed Marvin Bartley and the skipper’s low, whipped cross was brilliantly guided into the net by Guthrie.

Livi threw on Matej Poplatnik for Tiffoney and the sub was denied a one-on-one with Mehmet by a late offside flag as Holt talked himself into Beaton’s book.

In the final minute, Ryan Edwards and Connolly got in a fankle allowing Poplatnik and Forrest to break. Poplatnik cut across to Forrest who looked offside but wasted no time in tapping home from eight yards.
