We have been getting our flat ready to put on the market but given the recent introduction of new restrictions, we are not sure if we will be able to go ahead this side of Christmas. Can you help?
AThe Scottish Government is the definitive source of guidance on what is and isn’t allowed in terms of moving home in these strange times. Guidance has been updated in light of the new measures to drive down the infection rate – and you will be pleased to know that home moves are still permitted, provided they can be carried out safely.
Professionals and tradespeople who need to enter people’s homes to facilitate a home move, can continue to do so. Prospective buyers can view properties, virtually in the first instance and then only physically, if they are seriously interested in buying a particular property. No open house viewings should be carried out and physical viewings should be arranged on an appointment basis.
It is difficult to predict how the situation will develop, in response to infection rates, but whatever happens, the health and safety of all those involved in moving home, must be the key factor. Whatever stage you are at in terms of preparing to move home, you should speak to your solicitor, who is in the best position to offer expert advice and guidance.
