Qatar club set to make fresh move for Morelos

Super-rich team line up new bid for Colombian

- BY KEITH JACKSON

ALFREDO MORELOS could yet be offered a route out of Ibrox this month with mega-rich Qatari side Al-Duhail considering a fresh move for the Colombian.

Morelos is understood to have

turned tu down a potential £13million £ £1 move to the Gulf state sta during the summer, at a time when Lille and a host ho of other European big spenders sp were monitoring his situation at Rangers.

It’s believed the striker was wa holding out for a move straight st into one of the continent’s co biggest five leagues lea on the back of his prolific pr scoring exploits in last las season’s Europa League Le campaign.

But the Qatari interest has ha remained strong throughout th and Al-Duhail believe be they may be able to tempt te him to Doha with the extra ex lure of a potential fast-track move to PSG through an established link-up between the ownerships of both clubs.

The Qatar Stars League’s transfer window runs until October 25 which means Al-Duhail – who have already splashed out on former Juventus trio Mario Mandzukic, Medhi Benatia and Han Kwang-song – have more than two weeks left to launch another move.

But with the European market back in lockdown, they are unlikely to match their initial big-money offer that would’ve seen Rangers receive all £13m with the chance of a further £3m in potential add-ons and future sell-on fee of 20 per cent.

Morelos would also need talked into a change of heart, having previously dismissed the idea of a move to the Middle East.

Contracted to Rangers until 2023, he’s shown signs recently of a willingness to fight for a future under Steven Gerrard despite the arrivals of Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten.
