KAs the camecameras prepare tto stopt rolling after 14 years of hit reality show that made her family famous, Khloe Kardashian believes it is the right time to call it a day RICK FULTON

HLOE Kardashian has iinsistedid herh family’sfil’ “well-ll being and mental health” is the most important thing for all of the Klan.

In September, self-styled leader Kim, 39, announced on Instagram the ending of Keeping Up with the Kardashians after 14 years on screen.

As well as changing fashion and beauty, the show proved that reality stars could become multimillionaires by just letting a camera into their lives.

But recently the show has become too much for a family who weren’t averse to a row.

Kim and big sister Kourtney, 41, had a physical brawl on cameria which shocked fans and Kourtney announced she was quitting the show.

That, coupled with continuing questions over Kim’s rocky relationship with Kanye West and Khloe’s is-she-or-isn’t-she reunion with her baby daddy, after he cheated on her, seems to have led the family to decide to finally step away from the constant glare of the cameras.

Khloe said: “All we care about is each other’s well-being and mental health. Any job you have, you want to enjoy it but there’s times when it’s not fun or enjoyable every single day.”

Since it started in 2007, KUWK has also spawned 12 spin-off series on E! including Revenge Body with Khloe Kardashian, Khloe and Lamar and Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami.

There have been plenty of full-on verbal fights but, when Kim slapped Kourtney, a line was crossed.

And Khloe, 36, admitted it was a shocking scene which left them all reeling. She said: “My family can be vicious with what we say to one another then, five minutes later, it’s, ‘Hey, do you want to go get something to eat?’

“They can drop it like that. We are not physical with one another, we just don’t do that, so when that happened in front of me, I thought that Kourtney and Kim were either just playing or rough-housing a little.

“When I saw it escalating, I kind of wanted them to get it out a little bit but I didn’t want them to be physical with one another.

“I tried to break it up as best as I could. I know my mom was incredibly disappointed.

“She cried about it for a couple of days. It was a very strange situation. We’ve never been through something like that with one another before.

“We shut down production. We all needed a break so we went to our separate corners to heal and figure it out. We had to do a lot of talking with one another to see what is the root of why this is now getting physical.” Kourtney took the decision to stop filming and Khloe supported her. She added: “Through some self-reflection, she realised she just really needed to step back and that this just wasn’t making her happy anymore. I’m happy that she was able to step away.” Despite their disagreements, the pandemic and lockdown has brought them all closer together. Khloe said: “I think we appreciate each other so much more. Especially during quarantine, having each other has really helped. “I think we hold family even higher than we ever did, which says a lot because we are already obsessed with each other.” They have all branched out into fashion and beauty, creating multi-million empires on top of their TV work. Khloe, w i th he r 122million Instagram followers and 28million Twi tter fol lowers, founded clothing firm Good American. So quitting the show isn’t going to leave them potless and they will still have social media to promote their brand. For Khloe, a life away from the cameras might

mean fewer questions about whether she will ever get back with her ex and father of her daughter, NBA player Tristan Thompson.

And, of course, the other hot question is if the pair will have another baby together – a sister for two-year-old True.

Khloe said: “I don’t think I could handle the amount of kids my mom had but I love kids so I definitely would like more.

“It’s in God’s hands. Right now, I’m totally content with True. She has fulfilled everything I have ever dreamt of and wanted. She is so perfect. I know that’s a lot of pressure to put on her but she is. If I had another one, what a blessing. If not, fine.”

The Kardashian who has two full sisters and a brother as well as six half-siblings including Kylie and Kendall from her mum Kris’ marriage to Caitlyn Jenner, seems less keen on having a child during the Covid pandemic though after going to a friend’s baby shower.

She said: “Everyone wore these face shields and masks and we had to be six feet apart throughout the whole shower.

“It’s still great that you are able to celebrate but it’s just a different time. I feel for the moms that are going through that right now.”

And while there has been plenty written about Canadian basketball player Tristan and his cheating, Khloe is happy with his co- parenting skills and even claimed he was her “partner”.

“We’re doing a great job,” she said. “Just because people aren’t together, it doesn’t mean you have to be rude or that they are out of your life.

“You share a child so you want to have this blended family. I’m sure it’s weird for so many people but I’m used to it.

“Tristan has been so amazing during quarantine. He’s been so helpful. When you can’t rely on so many other people, it’s great to have, essentially, your partner.

“He is True’s dad and I need his help more now. We’ve been getting along and it has been, weirdly, really good.”

Series 19 is showing on Hayu just now but the family had to film it themselves on their phones as the TV crews were not allowed in their homes. Khloe tried to use the time to relax. But she admits it was hard.

She said: “I chilled for about a month. I was like, ‘Do you know what? Let’s all buckle down. A lot of bad things are happening so let’s stay home and do this.’

“Then, after a month, I was like, ‘I think I’m going to go crazy sitting here. I have to do something!’”

The final series of the hit show will air in early 2021 and it will definitely be the end of an era.

Khloe will miss the fans who have watched the twists and turns of their lives. She is pleased they have stuck with them.

She said: “I think it’s an honour. It’s so, so sweet. We are just being our crazy selves so to be appreciated for being yourself is such a beautiful compliment.

“I genuinely think it’s an honour and I am grateful for that.”

The 19th series of KUWK is currently on streaming platform Hayu in the UK.
