We’ll dump Scots so we can play in their nation
SERBIA legend Dragan Stojkovic insists his country will “slaughter the Scots” so they can set up a Euro 2020 grudge match against bitter rivals Croatia – in Glasgow.
Steve Clarke’s side face the Serbians in Belgrade next month in the play-off final for a tournament that Scotland will co-host.
With the draw already having been made for the postponed summer tournament, the winners of Scotland and Serbia will face England, Croatia and Czech Republic, with two of the matches at Hampden and a game against England at Wembley in between.
And former Red Star Belgrade and Marseille ace Stojkovic – widely regarded as one of Serbia’s greatest ever players – insists it’s a foregone conclusion they will beat Scotland.
He said: “We are better than Scotland. Guys, let’s run over the Scots in Belgrade and set up a match with the Croatians.
“We have a great deal of technically excel lent players. We deserve to be in the company of some of the best in the world.
“Against Norway, we were tactically secure and played at an extremely high level. We could and should have won by five goals.
“We dominated them from the start and this was against a side who were supposed to beat us easily.
“Our manager Ljubisa Tumbakovic deserves all the praise in the world for his tactics and the system he used.
“I know we will prepare well for playing Scotland but let’s be honest here, we are better than them and we will show that on the pitch.
“If we play as well as we did in Oslo, we wi l l slaughter them.”
