Euan keen to see short trip to Killie take place
EUAN MURRAY is keeping his fingers crossed Dunfermline’s trip to Kilmarnock goes ahead – not least because he stays just two minutes from Rugby Park.
The Pars skipper headed in a second-half double to give the Fifers a 2-0 derby victory over bitter rivals Falkirk on Friday night.
The win leaves Stevie Crawford’s Pars well placed to qualify from Group E as question marks hang over tomorrow night’s clash with Covid-struck Killie.
The Premiership side had to forfeit last Tuesday’s encounter with Falkirk after the whole first-team squad was forced into isolation following positive coronavirus tests.
But Murray is hopeful this week’s tie gets the green light as Dunfermline – who have undergone their own testing for the match – look to keep momentum going.
He said: “We’ve got a big game on Tuesday – if it goes ahead – and we’re all looking forward to that.
“It’s just important we look after ourselves because it is a good game to go and play in, to test ourselves against a Premiership team who have done well.
“Hopefully it goes ahead, especially for me, because I stay two minutes from Rugby Park!
“It’s probably the most local game I can get.
“But, listen, they’re a good team and we know it will be a very tough task against them.
“But if we can defend as well as we did at times on Friday night, and going the other way we’ve got some great players going forward, then we can go there and try to give a right good account of ourselves.”
