£2K REWARD TO FIND HOW RHYS DIED

Mum believes her son, 19, was murdered

- BY JON HEBDITCH

A REWARD of £2000 has been offered in a bid to find the “killer” of a teen – more than a year after his tragic death.

Rhys Bonner, 19, was found half-naked and dead on marsh ground between Glasgow’s Easterhouse and Gartloch Village on August 8 last year.

He had been reported missing on July 24, sparking a massive search.

Police are treating the death as unexplained.

Rhys’s mum, Stephanie, believes he was murdered and has teamed up with Sandy Smith, of Quarriers Warriors Justice For Children Army group, in a bid to get information.

Stephanie and fellow bereaved mum Norah Connelly made speeches in Glasgow’s George Square earlier this month during a demo demanding justice.

At the gathering , Stephanie met Sandy, who has offered the reward for information.

He posted on Facebook: “A £ 2000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Rhys Bonner’s killer. Someone out there knows what happened to Rhys, so do the right thing, come forward and give this brokenhearted mother closure to find her son’s killer.

“We are with you all the way, Stephanie, and will never give up our fight until justice has been done.”

Stephanie told the Record she is “optimistic” that momentum is now gathering.

She said: “People tell me things privately but they need to tell the police, too, or it’s just my word against someone else’s.

“I now feel my son’s killer will be brought to justice. I know they are out there. Getting justice for my son is my only goal every day.”
