THAT’S THE WAY I LIKE IT

- BY GARRY OWEN

AS YOU LIKE (3.40) can be the star of the show on the opening day of the season at Fakenham.

Jonjo O’Neill’s chaser ran a stormer when second to the talented Soupy Soups in the Perth Gold Cup in August.

The nine-year-old is nicely unexposed over three miles so ought to go one better in another warm contest.

HERE COMES JOHNY (2.10) should open his account over timber for Olly Murphy. The gelding looks set to build on his fine second to Sun Rising Hill on his British debut in a hot Market Rasen bumper.

BARTHOLOMEW J (3.10) can shade a competitive handicap hurdle for Simon Pearce.

The six-year-old delivered another personal best when chasing home the well-treated Double Court at Southwell.

The gelding is open to plenty of progress over 2m 4f so looks ready to resume winning ways off a workable mark.

MEDALLA DE ORO (4.10) is well worth punting in the closing novices’ hurdle.

Harry Whittington’s horse ought to strike with a repeat of his good second to Perfect Grace at Southwell in July.

EDEN DU HOUX (1.50) can make a winning bow over fences for David Pipe at Uttoxeter.

The gelding ended his timber career with a decent fourth to Mcfabulous in Grade Two company at Kempton. The sixyear-old has the scope to be even better over fences so should deny some promising rivals.

The feature handicap hurdle is trappy but it is worth siding with ESPION (2.23).

Philip Hobbs’ gelding relished tackling 2m 4f when bolting up from Gustavian here in March.

The six-year-old was staying on well late so should make a winning return over three miles.

EASY BUCKS (2.53) stands to maintain his rapid rise over fences for an in-form Peter Bowen. The five-year-old looked useful when hacking up from Lough Salt over 2m 6f here 12 days ago.

The gelding was doing all his best work late so can follow up over an extra two furlongs.

Declan Carroll is hitting form so it’s worth backing RADJASH (3.23) in the two-miler.

The progressive hurdler looks set to defy a well-earned 4lb hike for routing Officer Drivel over course and distance.
