Zlatan: I’ll bring the animal to the Jungle

- BY MARK WALKER

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC has warned Celtic they released an animal after he returned from his Covid-19 lay-off to become the Milan derby hero again.

The 39-year-old Swedish superstar returned from his positive test to net both goals in AC Milan’s 2-1 win at Inter Milan on Saturday.

Next up for Ibrahimovic is Celtic in the Europa League and he reckons he’s better than ever.

He said: “They locked this animal in a house for two weeks. This is what happened when they released me.

“I stayed at home to respect the quarantine but it was difficult for me. I wanted to work.

“I swabbed myself every three days and I told myself that I’d play in the derby whatever the cost, even if I were still positive!

“I’m better with age. I feel more complete and my experience helps. I had the fitness of a kid today, no one was going to stop me.

“That was one of the best thrills I’ve had in football to come back like this.”

And AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has demanded his men play with the same intensity against Celtic this week in Glasgow.

He said: “We played great football with spirit. We deserved the win.

“I don’t want to dampen anyone’s enthusiasm but we are only at the start of the season and we have not done anything yet.

“Serie A is a very difficult league that has improved recently and the standard is now incredibly high.

“Now we travel to Glasgow to face Celtic and there’s no point going there unless we play the same way. We have to be ready.”
