A METIER STORMER

- BY GARRY OWEN

METIER (1.30) can claim the competitive Coral Racing Super Series Introductory Hurdle at Ascot.

Useful on the Flat, Harry Fry’s gelding bolted up from Oneupmanship on his timber debut at Newton Abbot.

The four-year-old looks every inch a Graded-performer so he can follow up against some exciting rivals.

RED RISK (2.05) can boost Harry Cobden’s title bid by landing the Coral Handicap Chase. Paul Nicholls’ horse justified his lofty price tag when hammering Golden Whisky at Ludlow in February.

The gelding is unexposed in the UK and should be primed after his fine comeback third to Fidux at Market Rasen.

Nicky Henderson’s BUZZ (2.40) can shade another hot renewal of the Coral Handicap Hurdle. The six-year-old should be primed after his cracking third to Sceau Royal in the Welsh Champion at Ffos Las.

MR MULDOON (3.15) can bag a trappy two-miler for shrewd trainer Dr Richard Newland. The consistent gelding remains nicely unexposed over fences after slamming Overcourt on debut at Sedgefield.

The closing novices’ handicap hurdle is even trickier but I’m backing CERTAINLY RED (3.45 ).

Lydia Richards’ gelding still lurks on an attractive mark after his excellent third to Big Penny at Lingfield.

MAISON D’OR (12.05) can land the conditionals’ hurdle at Catterick for the second year running. Micky Hammond’s stayer put in his best effort since when second behind Ratfacemcdougal l at Musselburgh. That race is working out pretty well so this tough gelding can go one better for her shrewd connections.

The Middleham handler can also take the novices’ hurdle with STORMIN NORMAN (2.23). The gelding built on some excellent Flat efforts when routing Small Present back over timber at Sedgefield.

The five-year-old remains open to plenty of progress so he can follow up in slightly better company.

MAGNA MORALIA (12.38) can finally open his account over hurdles for John Quinn. The gelding should be fit after a spin on the level at Redcar.
