Scott storms into weekend at Joburg

-

SCOTT JAMIESON battled against the South African storms to be top Scot at the Joburg Open.

The Glaswegian fired a second-round 70 for a five-under-par total.

Jamieson bogeyed his first two holes but then eagled his fourth and birdied his fifth to be eight shots adrift of South African Jacques Blaauw.

Blaauw’s 63 left him a shot clear at 13 under after an eagle and seven birdies.

The 34-year-old has four wins on the South Africa PGA Tour and is one ahead of fellow South African Wilco Nienaber, who added a 67 to his opening 63 for a 12-under-par tally.

Glaswegian Ewen Ferguson’s 68 saw him through at three under par.

Craigielaw’s Grant Forrest (68) is at two under. But Aberdonian David Law, who had slumped to four over for his round with three holes to play when darkness ended play, needs to pick up at least a shot to join Forrest inside the projected one-under cut mark.

Also on one-under is London-based Scot Ryan Lumsden (72), with David Drysdale (72) at one-over.
