PROUD SCOTT

But Broony won’t be tempted out of international retirement for Euros

- BY MICHAEL GANNON

Wembley, enjoy the game and get into the Euros culture.”

Brown admitted Scotland heroes Callum McGregor, Ryan Christie, Leigh Grif f iths and Greg Taylor came back with a bounce he’s hoping can be taken into Celtic duty today.

He said: “They’ve come back with smiles on their faces. They’ve done extremely well.

“It’s been hard for them playing the 120 minutes as well, but to get the win, it’s a lot of relief for themselves and the country. They’re in good form and so are the other lads who have been on international duty. We’re looking forward to Saturday now, pushing on and getting back to playing the way we did against Motherwell the other week. In that first half we were exceptional so we need to make sure we build on that.”

Brown wasn’t surprised to see Christie become a national hero.

Neil Lennon might not have been chuffed to see the playmaker perform in all t h ree game s against Serbia, Slovakia and Israel, but it’s just a measure of his standing for club and country right now.

Brown said: “Ryan has been unbelievable. He went awayway on loan to Aberdeen, he worked extremely hard in the gym and built himself up a little bit.

“Everyone knows how hard he works, everyone knows how fit he is as well.

“He’s got that quality, as soon as he comes on to that left foot you know that five, six, seven or eight times out of 10 that it’s going in the back of the net.

“That’s what he brings. He brings that quality, he brings that willingness to run off the ball as well and work hard for the team.

“Is he indispensable? Yeah, def initely. He has been phenomenal for us for the last year and half now.

“He’s been brilliant with Scotland and his form just keeps getting better and better.”

Scotland is now on the backburner for the next four months. It’s all about the Premiership race and Brown wants Celts to build up a head of steam.

The midfielder always relishes games against old club Hibs and he’s hoping for a repeat of the style shown in the 3-0 win over Jack Ross’ side in Glasgow earlier this season.

Brown added: “Jack has done a great job there.

“He’s built a really good squad and they have a great team spirit as well, as have we.

“It’ll be an open game as both teams like to play football.

The lads have worked hard to qualify. Fair play, I’m so pleased for them. SCOTT BROWN ON SCOTS REACHING THE EURO FINALS

“We need these three points so we need to concentrate on ourselves rather than worry about how Hibs or anyone else is going to play.

“We need to build on our performance at Motherwell, there was some great play and we scored some great goals.”
