NEWS that supermarkets have been named the most common place to catch coronavirus got readers talking online.
Data gathered from the NHS Test and Trace app also showed the second most common place to contract the virus were high schools, followed by primary schools and then hospitals.
On the Record’s Facebook page, David Kempsell suggested: “Why not close supermarkets then and open hospitality and pubs?”
Avril Hogg said: “I would say it’s mostly universities as they are the ones who used to have parties.”
Robert Garrick said: “It’s like everything else, it’s not supermarkets that are the problem. It’s the people using them that can’t or won’t follow basic instructions on social distancing, following a one-way system and sanitising both their hands and trolley before shopping. The amount of people still not wearing masks in supermarkets is unbelievable.
But Jennifer Hall said: “I work in a supermarket and haven’t heard of any cases.”
