Ryan urges champs to run Amok and get back on track in title race

-

team-mates are under intense scrutiny after falling 11 off the pace in the flag fight following a 2-2 draw with Hibs.

Celtic have two games in hand but inconsistency and errors are wrecking their title defence and Christie wants to see a response.

He said: “At a club like Celtic everyone knows we are trying to win every game and if you do that it takes the pressure off and puts it on other people.

“We know there’s still plenty of time to go in this league and that we’ve got it within ourselves to go on a run. Even on Saturday, at 2-0 down, you’re thinking, ‘How has this happened?’

“You’re thinking we’re playing

very well. All we need is that run of games to get the confidence back up and maybe a few clean sheets.

“We know we’re still a very good team and can put together a few good runs that will take the pressure off. But we need to do it sooner rather than later.”

Christie is also adamant he’ll never complain about being picked for Scotland. Club manager Neil Lennon was not pleased at the fact his key man was one of the few within Steve Clarke’s squad who started all three matches during the recent international break.

Christie understood Lennon’s concern but will always be up for international selection.

He added: “The clubs are always going to have a wee moan when players are asked to play three games in a short space of time.

“But I’m certainly not going to complain about getting to play for my country as many times as I can. I want to rack up the caps. I still felt fresh on Saturday and managed to complete 90 minutes.”
