Bairns want a top class stay says Cal

-

CALLUMN MORRISON reckons if Falkirk can go top of League One tomorrow night they’ll look to stay there for the season.

The Bairns laid down a massive marker as they ended Cove’s terrific 100 per cent start to the season by beating them 1-0.

If they win at Dumbarton they’ll open up a two-point lead and can then look forward to a Betfred Cup clash with Rangers.

Morrison said: “We’ve played five games and we’ve made a good start and we can go top on Tuesday if we win.

“If we do what we did on Saturday, get the basics right, we can get the result.

“Saturday was a bit of a marker but we still have to play them two more times.

“I think there are a lot of good things ahead for us this season but now it’s all about Dumbarton.”

The 21-year-old only joined Falkirk in August on a 12-month contract after five years at Hearts but he extended his deal by another year last week.

He grabbed the winner when he got on the end of Anton Dowds’ cross after 49 minutes.

Morrison said: “It’s been a good week. I got offered a new deal and it was a no-brainer to take it and then the ball went in the net for me so it was great.

“I knew when Anton got on the ball that he would deliver so I just wanted to get into the right area and thankfully I managed to get on the end of his cross.

“I have enjoyed my time here. David McCracken and Lee Miller have been brilliant with me and it’s a great bunch of boys.

“There are big things

Clyde 3, Montrose 2 Falkirk 1, Cove Rangers 0 Forfar 1, Airdrie 3 Partick Th 2 East Fife 0 Peterhead 1, Dumbarton 0 (Tomorrow, 7pm) Dumbarton v Falkirk (Saturday, 3pm) Airdrie v Cove East Fife v Clyde Montrose v Partick Th Peterhead v Forfar ahead for this club and it’s a great place to be.

“Once we get Tuesday done we’ll focus on Rangers next Sunday. They won’t get an easy game because we’ll knock our pans in.”

Cove boss Paul Hartley said: “We’ve lost the 100 per cent record but that’s the nature of football. We’ll be ready to bounce back.”

Airdrie are in third after a 3-1 win at Forfar thanks to early goals from Thomas Robert, Dale Carrick and Kyle Connell, with Chris Antoniazzi replying.

Brian Graham’s double saw Partick Thistle dump East Fife 2-0 and Ben Armour hit the early winner as Peterhead beat Dumbarton 1-0. A David Goodwillie hat-trick for Clyde saw off Montrose 3-2. Russell McLean and Chris Mochrie replied.
