stay there. Gerrard has guided his team through an unbeaten 22-game domestic and European programme this term and wants the run to continue for as long as possible.

He also wants to keep his team together, with Gers hoping Glen Kamara will sign a new deal amid interest from Premier League duo Leeds United and Brighton.

Gerrard said: “We want to do both (qualify and win the group). I know people will probably think if we get the result we want tomorrow, that next week will become irrelevant.

“That’s not the case. We want to keep trying to win.

“We want to keep the unbeaten run going and we want to approach every game the same, with the mentality and attitude to try and win.

“Next week is too far ahead. We’ve got something right under our noses that we need to give full focus tomorrow.

“We need to commit to this game and if we do I’m sure we can get the result we want, and then it is turning our attention to Ross County. So for us the games in the future are a million miles away.

“The only one that is really important is the one that’s right in front of us.”

Rangers will welcome back Joe Aribo to the squad after illness but Ryan Jack is unlikely to make it.

Gerrard added: “I think we’re going to run out of time with Ryan unless there is a miraculous turnaround in the next 24 hours.

“But he still has a good chance for the weekend.

“Joe Aribo will hopefully be back with us. He trained yesterday and will train today so assuming he comes through today’s session Joe should be back in the squad.

“Brandon Barker had a little knock on his ankle, a twist on the astroturf at Falkirk. Hopefully he will be available as well.”
